Substitutes To Stay Keto

When starting a Keto diet it is quite daunting, If you stop to think about all of the foods that you eat every day and the horrendous amount of carbs that they contain. Bread, Pasta, rice, cakes, potatoes and grains even pulses all have a very high concentration of Carbohydrates.

Then there is all of the drinks that we buy without a second thought to the sugar that we are consuming every single day. Yes all of those energy drinks that we buy are killing us with the ridiculous amount of sugar, all with the promise of giving us energy.

Well there are actually substitutes for most of the things that you need to give up on a Keto diet.

I have found that by taking more time while shopping and actually reading the labels, you can find low carb options for most things. I have had to revise my shopping quite a lot, without knowing it I was eating a deadly amount of carbohydrates all just building the fat that I was trying to lose around my middle with regular exercise. What I was led to believe was a healthy diet was actually killing me.

The common myth is that if you eat , Fruit, cereal, wholegrain Pasta, brown rice and whole wheat and grain bread that this is healthy. For years I believed this and my weight did not change, I had a rowing machine and used it every morning but still my stomach fat did not move and my weight stayed the same, yes my arms seemed toned and my legs but the fat that was damaging my health was still there.

I began a strict Keto diet to stay below 50 carbs per day, I ate cauliflower instead of potatoes, Broccoli spinach and salad with meat of all types, I found Qetoe pasta, Noodles and rice substitutes all of which are a wonderful low carb option. These fabulous products have made my Keto journey a breeze.

To know that I could still have my cheese, yogurt, cream and most dairy was a dream come true. The weight loss was almost immediate about 1kg per week for the first 5 weeks and now has tapered off, I really was never that big but the fat was all around my middle my upper body and upper arms.

I had resigned myself to the fact that this was aging and I had to get used to it!

I have embraced Keto and just cannot bring myself to eat carbs as i once did, There really are substitutes for most things including a really nice bread which can be bought in Coles supermarkets with 85% lower Carbs and it is delicious. Wraps are also available with next to no carbs per wrap and they make a great lunch option. When you cook with low carb food you not only feel better but you will look better as well, my clothes fit nicer and when I look in the mirror i don’t see that frumpy overweight lady that I saw 3 months ago.

I have more energy and that bloated feeling that I had after every carb laden meal is gone, replaced with a much healthier outlook on life and even my sleep has improved.
